Recent Project Awarded LEED Platinum Certification
A Dietsche + Dietsche design for a Virginia residence has achieved
Platinum Certification. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) offers four levels of certification to recognize leadership in building strategies and practices. The certification evaluates sustainable siting, water efficiency, clean energy use, use of renewable materials, indoor environmental quality, and innovation in design. Platinum level is the highest certification offered and requires significant achievement in all areas.
Almost every aspect of the house, from building design and siting to materials selections and landscaping was informed by the LEED for Homes Guidelines. The finished project features super-durable and tight construction, a high efficiency heating and cooling system, and use of local/reused/recycled materials including stone and wood. Although not required by LEED, the interior furnishings and accessories follow the same LEED standards as the house itself.
